|Solicitors at Coles Miller are supporting Family Mediation Week (January 23-27 2017) by helping to cut the cost of divorce.
Too many separating couples go straight to court and incur significant costs after months of legal wrangling because they don’t know how mediation can save them money, says Coles Miller.
Family Mediation Week promotes the benefits that mediation can offer.
Mediation enables separating couples to part more amicably. It is cheaper and quicker than going to court – and also less stressful for any children involved.
Coles Miller family law solicitor and mediator Mala Mandalia said: “If you are considering a separation then Coles Miller can help you to decide if mediation is best for you.
“You will need to come in for a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM) to see how the process would help you.”
From January 23 to February 21 2017, Coles Miller will be waiving the normal cost of a MIAM (£100+VAT) for separating couples that go on to mediation.
Coles Miller family law solicitor and mediator Mala Mandalia said: “We strongly recommend mediation because you retain control of the process instead of handing it over to a court to decide.
“If you elect to take part in the mediation process, we will credit the cost of the MIAM towards your mediation,” she added.
Family Mediation Week is organised by the Family Mediators Association which represents more than 400 mediators across the UK.
The aim is to encourage separating couples to consider family mediation to help them to take control of their situation and to make decisions together.
Mala Mandalia is based at Coles Miller’s office in Durley Chine Road, Bournemouth. The firm also has offices in Poole, Christchurch, Broadstone and Wimborne.
